Finish it up Friday...

It's Friday again!!!!   I am loving seeing all of my weekly projects getting finished!
I was working on this baby quilt this past week for a family friend who is having a baby shower today. I forgot to take pictures of it when it was complete though, so this is from my cell phone camera (taken right after it was quilted and ready for the binding)  I hope she likes it because I had a good time making it.  (with help from my little buddy) As usual, I bound it with polkadot - brown with white this time.  I sooooo wish I had a finished picture of it before it was wrapped.  :)

I have been making a few of these trivets also - getting ready for the fall craft shows so I don't have to scurry around making stuff the month before.  This year is all about preparation.  :)  I LOVE the colors in these, especially the aqua one.   They are made wrapping 1inch strips of fabric around cotton rope (has to be cotton or else it will mess up your machine) then coiled and sewn together with a zigzag.  They are about 7.5 - 8 inches in diameter and perfect for putting pots/pans and hot dishes on your counter.  I made one for my kitchen with aqua and orange (I LOVE ORANGE) and have used it every day since.

Off to preschool, work, and the daily grind for now.

I like your trivets. I usually make small baskets in the same technique. I havent try cotton rope for that, I have been using polyester silk ropes for flags(?) because thats the best buy that a have come across (in Sweden)and thats soft enough not to upset my sewingmachine. What kind of cottonrope do you use?

Nice work, mama! See you prove, that no matter how busy you are, there is still time to craft and create.

I keep wanting to make those trivets, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Lovely job on both those and the baby quilt.
