Updates...

Here's some news for those who have been curious to know.

Yes, I am pregnant again.   About 7 weeks.  The estimated due date is June 23 (our wedding anniversary).

I have tested positive for an anti-c antibody.  This means that I have developed an antibody (due to a blood transfusion a few months ago) that is attacking an antigen from Nate's DNA.  There is a 50% chance that the baby will have complications in the womb because of this.  We met with maternal-fetal specialists today and they told us that I would need to be monitored monthly by checking titres for this antibody to make sure I am not making the baby aneamic.  The anti-c antibody is different from the rH antigen - usually treated with a rhogam shot later in the pregnancy.  There is no shot or quick fix for anti-c.    The antibody I have developed is attacking the red blood cells of the baby.  If there gets to be too many antibodies,  the baby may need to have an inter-womb transfusion (i think I just made up that word, but you get the idea) or be delivered early.

Nate and I are excited, and nervous, but feel better knowing all the details and what we need to do and how our baby can be monitored to ensure her safety.  The doctors said that this is not very common any more, but since they are specialists, they are equipped and fully capable to monitor and care for this situation.

What is next?  I have an appointment next week, then bloodwork every month to make sure my antibody levels arent rising too fast.   The  outlook is good.  We do not know if baby is a boy or a girl yet, (too soon!)
Several people I have talked with have made the same comment - "with all that can go wrong, it is amazing that we can even reproduce!!!"    I would have to agree.
There are people out there  who dont even want kids and are having them with no problem - then there are those who want them so badly and cant or have complications during....   it makes me angry if I think about it too much, so I dont.

ok, on a lighter note -
I asked Josie what she wanted for dinner and she said "  I dunno - how about gum?"  works for me!

Also, 'dog poop' (her words) was the focus of her nap today.  I use the word nap lightly - as in - there was none.  it was mostly her jumping on her bed yelling 'DOG POOP"  and laughing hysterically.  At times like this, I wonder why the Eismann poop genes had to kick in.

ALSO - I can't find the dang spell check on the new layout of blogger.  It is  bothering me.

ALSO -  the Knoch craft show is coming up on saturday (tell your friends, and buy my junk) and I am realizing that the stuff I had made doesnt seem like it is going to be enough so I have been scurrying around making more.   (seriously, come and buy my junk)

It is 9:30, and I am going to bed.  I can't even stay up to watch the rest of the Steelers game.

Joanna would NOT be proud of me now.

I'm - and Nathan is RH +, so I too get the rhogam shots. I'm always unhappy to have to get that needle in my hip fat, yet grateful. I had no idea a blood transfusion could have complications like that. Your doctors sound like they have a plan, and we'll keep you all in our prayers. Congratulations on a new one on the way! We miss you guys- Kelly

Congrats on being pregnant again. The plus side of the complication is that they are aware of it early, and taking precautions. I am praying for the best for you guys...

Glad to hear you have an update - somewhat positive. At least the docs can control this antibody. Thanks for the update - been kind of anxious!
Hope to see you tonight!
